Sleepless under Scrutiny, Part Dunce.

One of my favorite phrases on this earth (the one used in many a film, now too cliche to include in a script I'm afraid, but I've always wanted an excuse to use it) is,
"How do you sleep at night?"
The best reply is a slow inhale of a cigarette, a gun on the desk, exhaling the response and swiveling the chair, "Would you like me to show you?"

Recently I haven't been sleeping. It makes for comical and embarrassing mistakes in the morning and throughout the school day.

For example...
Everyone has simple life routines, like what is washed first and last in the shower, socks on first vs. socks on last, etc. It is those simple routines that lose their order when I'm not awake.

This morning I spit mouthwash into my towel.

Just spit. Directly onto it. I stood there stunned for a moment, covered in sticky CVS brand mouthwash before I realized what I'd done.

This whole blog has been leading up to that event. It's not interesting or even all that funny for a non-observer, but I really wanted to share it.
I thought it was the funniest thing and laughed and choked on remaining mouth wash.

Sometimes I think Mr. Bean lives in my skin.
That's all.

Until you have climbed into the shower fully-pajama-ed and found your glasses in the fridge, I think you're doing OK. Nice to know I'm not the only one. Hope you've managed a snooze.

I have also not been sleeping well for the past couple of weeks. When I'm that exhausted, the 2-minute bike ride to school becomes an incredible chore...and I hate myself for feeling that lethargic. I go through sleepless periods pretty regularly so this isn't that unusual, but we both have this going on at the same time. Maybe it's due to the upheaval of the deep emotional bonds we had with our third-graders? Maybe it means we're seriously awesome ALTs?
