Gotsu: Found Out.

This little place, or not-so-little place -depending on your perspective- has been hiding a few secrets. Or perhaps I just haven't been looking hard enough.

I.
I went on a fantastic voyage through the late night streets and harbor of Gotsu with Muldoon on Saturday night. We were given underwear in little gift bags at a snack bar. I thought it was tea until I brought it home and opened the bag...very strange. We went to a wine tasting, drank whiskey at "The Mac", and danced with old men in a bar above a bar on the street cars can't drive on. 'Jack and Diane' has never been sung with more fervor. May I never again say that there isn't nightlife here.

II.
The next day I found this guy:Who is he? Why is he here? Why does he look over my coastal town and the sea like a worried mother? I have no idea, but he's huge and he's there. I was driving around, looking for the trail head of a mountain where it is said that a meteor hit and carved a perfectly landscaped and groomed star into the side of it (as seen everyday on my drive to work). As sceptical as I am, I went in search of the trail and found a path to a tall white guy and a lot of landscaping.
When I find out who/what this is, I'll let you know.

III.
My nightlight in my toilet room was on when I first arrived to my apartment that humid day last July. I have never turned it off (that I remember) and was hoping it would be one of those fluke things that would not go out till I left. I find I have faith in those little coincidental things that happen in a home. It made my little room+hallway have weight, and it was a warm glow during cold nights in solitude. Unfortunately I watched it burn out tonight. I didn't want to jinx my record of no night without a nightlight, so I took a drive to the grocery store that is open till 11 on the outskirts of town. It was chilly but I kept the windows rolled down during my drive. The air smells fantastic tonight, things are very green and a storm is coming. There were no light bulbs in my size at the store, but the store was busy for 9pm. At a distance in the parking lot, three teenage boys had a small boom box and were break dancing.

Funny what one can find out about their surroundings. I need to explore more, or at least break out of the routine.

Indeed never have I had so much fun receiving satin underwear from a stranger, dancing with a man wearing a horses head (albeit not the first time!)and using the public restroom facilities of a small coastal town. We like Gotsu! And my but the air has been wonderful lately...
