The breeze outside is just wonderful
I went for a long walk tonight.
I took my laundry in and noticed that the air was warm, but had a light, cool, autumn-scented breeze. There was definite spice in the air.
So I got outta my bed clothes and into the night.
Like a fool I wandered into the cemetery near my apartment bldg.
I thought maybe I could coax my Shogun to return to his spot there, and leave me alone at night. Last week I saw him again, not the same image but still, it kept me up.
All it takes is a little fall air to turn me into a loon. I frightened myself imagining shadows and listening far too closely to the crickets and other large insects rustling in mad attempts to mate, eat, or make webs and nests in the damp trees near the cemetery. So I walked out, goosebumped and silly.
Letter to Shogun:
Dear Sir:
You probably don't understand English, but I just need to get this off my chest.
I realize that being dead, bored and mischevious leads one to finding the nearest susceptable individual and haunting the hell out of them...
I also understand that it must seem like I want company, considering that I continuously talk to myself and glue myself to my computer in attempts to contact the outside world.
But if you are going to haunt me, I would appreciate at least a little compensation for the amount of entertainment I provide you, waking up, seeing you, getting scared and not being able to sleep.
Quality entertainment doesn't come cheap, my friend. Can't you clean that gross drain in the shower room, or teach me to make Japanese food? I am sure you know some classic recipes, considering how old you are.
All I ask is a little tit for tat. You get that concept, right? A little yin for the yang?
If you are going to reply, please do so when I am awake.
Thank you,
Your Gaijin Hostess
Anyway, now that you all think I am crazy...
Tonight really was lovely, the Gotsu coast knows how to do autumn.
G'night.
