What is that star?!

Okay, stars ain't my thang...to tell the truth cardinal directions ain't either.
There is a really bright star that blows my mind every night, from my angle it sits southwest above the Japan Sea. What is it?! It's a planet right? It's gotta be with that kind of light.

Speaking of planets...my third graders are working on power point presentations on how to save the planet. One student wrote in his speech, "Global Warming helps our health." I asked him, "How does Global Warming help our health?" He replied, "Earth kill us, earth will be safe."
I helped him adjust the wording in his speech to "Global Warming helps our planet's health..." I struggled with whether or not to get into the grammar and vocab of "...because global warming rids the earth of the largest virus its ever known: US."
His reply sums it up much more concisely.

This lesson plan makes me wish I had a working bicycle.

Don't worry about the planet. It will still be here when you die.
