この エアコンは。。。する ひつよ

This is just a quick thing because it cracked me up today.
I've been helping a few JTEs by correcting a few midterm exams.
There was a section on the exam where words were missing and the student had to complete the sentence, for example,
"He didn't know ( ) ( ) ( ) next."= He didn't know what to do next.
Problem number 10 was as follows:
This air conditioner needs ( ) ( ) ( ).
The correct answer is, "This air conditioner needs to be repaired" but if a student finished the sentence using correct grammar with something that made sense, I was to use my own judgment whether to mark them wrong.
Here are a few of the answers I struggled with:

This air conditioner needs to stay calm.

This air conditioner needs to be invited.

This air conditioner needs to respect me.

And my favorite:

This air conditioner needs to pass exam.
